The society tends to misunderstand suffering as something you must overcome, something you shouldn’t live with and completely remove from your life.

But the best thing you can do is to cope with every suffering, because it is inevitable.

A lot of people think they suffer because they deserve it, it’s not true. Suffering is normal, everyone suffers in their own ways. Every discomfort you feel is basically another suffering you have to go through, and because you’re here reading this that means you’ve survived all kind of suffering that gone by.

Congratulations to you, the dearest readers.

First of all, you need to realize that suffering is necessary. The sooner you realize that suffering is necessary the sooner you’ll learn how to use it to your advantage.

Suffering make you feel alive

Human have feelings. Happiness, joy, love, and many other feelings that brings butterflies to your stomach isn’t the only thing that should be celebrated. Sorrow, pain, sadness and many other emotions that clouded your mind and darkened your day is also important for you. Human is always fragile physically or mentally, that is why human need to experience everything life has to offer to grow and be stronger.

Many people believe that suffering is avoidable, so they build their walls so high that makes them think they’re invincible to anything that makes them suffer. Ironically that avoidance sometimes become self-sustained suffering such as loneliness and depression

Suffering puts everything in perspective for you, you realize what really matters for you and it will make you feel alive at the moment rather than drag you to think about the unknown that keeps you awake at night.

It’s OK to open up and feel vulnerable. It’s not signs of weakness but quite the contrary, that means you’re ready to take on the world and every bittersweet moment that come with it. Build your own story, be brave, be alive!

Suffering pave your way to happiness

Every suffering we go through makes us more resilient, and it is important for whatever problem that will hit us in the face for the rest of our life.

Suffering can change our perspective about happiness itself, because at some point in life every suffering we’ve gone through eventually makes us more grateful about every little thing that happen in our life. For example, when you’re thirsty you’ll be extremely grateful when someone gives you a bottle of water.

Happiness is subjective and everyone have their own version of happiness. But for the most part, happiness starts with being grateful for everything that happened including everything that makes us suffer, because in the end of the day every moment is another color on the canvas of life.

I write this article from my own personal experiences about depression, loneliness, childhood traumas and years of dealing with suicidal thoughts.

The best thing I can offer as advise to deal with suffering is embrace it. Don’t run or hide, it’ll only get worse. I tried to run from it and hide every emotion with anything that could numb the pain, but in the end it ruins my life even more. Wear every emotion you feel like a blanket to keep you warm so you don’t become cold-hearted person in this already-cold world. Embrace the pain, the sadness and everything that comes with life. If your feeling is overwhelming, please reach out. It’s OK to be vulnerable at some point, you’ll be surprised by how many people actually care about you.

Lastly, I won’t tell you to have a good day. Instead, I advise you to simply have a day. Stay alive, feed yourself well, drink enough water, wear something comfy, take your naps, and dont give up on yourself just yet. :)
